I was born and raised in Miami, surrounded by the syncopation and improvisation of afro-cuban music. I started studying piano at age five. From an early age, I was fascinated by the intersection of art music and folk styles. At the turn of the century (gasp), I worked for a few dot-coms doing web development and systems administration.
After high school, I moved to new york and studied composition at New York University working with brilliant composers such as Louis Karchin and Elizabeth Hoffman.
Following graduation, I joined Blue State Digital, a digital agency where I produced projects for political, non-profit and corporate clients. I also run Where We Watch, a guide to watching sports in New York bars.
I recently completed my Master's degree in Music Composition at Tulane University under Barbara Jazwinski.
